Dr. Pradeep D'Costa

"Dr. D’Costa is a highly respected Internal Medicine specialist with extensive expertise in Critical Care Medicine. He completed his MBBS at the University of Pune in 1995, followed by a DNB in General Medicine from the National Board of Examinations in 2000. Further enhancing his qualifications, he earned a Certificate in Critical Care Medicine from the Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine (ISCCM) in 2002 and a postgraduate certification in infectious diseases from the University of New South Wales. Throughout his career, Dr. D’Costa has made significant contributions to the field of Critical Care, serving as the former Secretary of the Pune branch of ISCCM and as a prominent educator in critical care courses across India. Since 2008-2009, he has been a pioneer in the use of Critical Care Ultrasound (CCUS) and has trained over 2,000 medical professionals through specialized courses. Dr. D’Costa is the lead author of the book Critical Care Ultrasound and Applications (2021), a key resource in the field, and has authored multiple chapters on Point-of-Care Ultrasound (P.O.C.U.S.), including a recent chapter on diagnosing undifferentiated fever.Recognized as a leader in his field, Dr. D’Costa has represented India at prestigious international WINFOCUS meetings in China, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka. He is also core faculty for the Fellowship in Critical Care Ultrasound (FCCU) course conducted by ISCCM. Dr. D’Costa’s work has earned him numerous accolades, including the Shaura Puraskar in 2021 for his contributions during the COVID-19 pandemic. With vast experience in clinical trials, having participated in over 20 trials from Phase 1 to 4, he has played an instrumental role in advancing the practice of Critical Care. Additionally, he was pivotal in securing the first MUHS Critical Care seat at Sahyadri Hospital (Nagar Road branch).
