I am extremely sorry to hear the fact that my treatment failed to help your mother, I vividly remember her case. You visited me only twice, first time with your mother and second time after few days with partial reports of investigations, without your mother, more than a month later. And I would like to add few points in reply to your grievances. 1. Your mother had not undergone any investigation in more than a year. Considering her multiple co-morbidities, she needed the initial set of investigations for proper management. The cost of investigations was higher due to presence of MRI of spine, which is a costly test and was of extreme importance in your mother’s case. I have no control over cost of investigations. But I wrote MRI screening to reduce the total cost of MRI. 2. As I can recall, I did not suggest name of any specific diagnostic center. I told you to do the tests from any reputed lab and said that MRI is not done every center. It was you who asked that can I do the tests from that particular lab, I said yes you can. I NEVER said that I would not see reports of any other lab, as I do not indulge in that kind of practice. 3. I do not control cost of medications. I gave the medications which I felt was necessary for your mother’s treatment. You are always welcome to substitute them with cheaper medications with similar composition, if available. A lot of my patients call me up to ask about alternative meds when they are not available or too costly, I always tell them to go for alternative drug with similar composition. You could have simply called me and asked about alternatives! 4. Regarding the X-ray, I can guarantee you that THERE WAS NO FRACTURE IN THE IMPLANT. I still remember explaining to you in details, that there was no fracture. It’s nearly impossible for a metallic implant to break like that without severe trauma. The GAP that you were referring to as fracture, was in fact JUNCTION of two different implants. The same was mentioned in X-ray report as well. Anyone who has told you otherwise is absolutely wrong!! 5. I specifically asked for MRI of Lumbosacral spine in your mothers very first visit. Instead you not to do the MRI of Cervical spine & X-ray of LS Spine instead on your own. Your mothers pain was mostly in lower back, so was the site of her previous operation, so I had no option other than to readvise for MRI LS spine, which was absolutely necessary for her treatment. 6. Lastly, I do not think my patients belong to a 3rd world country, in the age of internet. I always explain the disease to my patients in details and tell me to go through internet about the disease if they wish to know more. I give them enough to clarify their issues. My other patients would definitely verify that. I am happy to hear the fact that your mother has improved with treatment from other doctor. Hope she makes an excellent recovery. Personally I feel, most of your grievances were very insignificant and could have been easily solved with one phone call. My phone is always available for my patients, my other patients would verify that fact.
