I have visited Dr kiran Reddy as one of my friends recommended him as a good knee specialist. I have been having knee pain since 6 months on and off, and have consulted a lot of orthopedics who have prescribed various pain medications, blood tests and MRI scans, I have also been offered a diagnostic laproscopy procedure for finding out what was wrong with my knee. Every time I took medications the pain went away for a few days but it returned as soon I went on with life. I have lost faith in doctors and wanted to try alternative medicine like homeopathy.
I had an ACL tear in my knee and went to Dr Kiran Reddy for the surgery as recommended by a colleague of mine. After some examination and tests he said that I will need a ACL reconstruction surgery, he explained the treatment options for the grafts and various implants and also suggested which is best for me as I like to be active.
Dr Kiran Reddy was a saviour for my son. When he was falling off the steps I caught him by his hand and he dislocated a bone in his arm and he was not moving his elbow, Iwas very worried that it was a fracture. I requested in the reception area and the doctor saw me as soon as I went there despite having patients waiting for him because this was an emergency. Luckily he had a small dislocation, the doctor did one Xray to confirm there was no fracture and he put back the bone in his op room itself with out any Anesthesia. He did not even charge extra for the procedure. I could see my son instantly move his hand and elbow to take my mobile phone after it was set. He was a very pleasant and cordial person, he said `treat the mother, the baby is alright`. He made sure my son was comfortable before the setting up of bone. The whole process was smooth and effortless, i was just wondering if it would have been the same anywhere else. My entire family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to him.
Consulted with the doctor in the emergency department because my elderly father had a bad fracture in the leg. He actually just fell at home from the ramp but both bones in the leg have shattered into multiple pieces. On top of all this, my father was also diabetic and his sugar level was also so high. The doctor explained various treatment types to me and my father and he also told how the period after the surgery should be. He was constatly in touch with the diabetic doctor to control my dads blood sugars, finally surgery was done only after the sugars were in control. We have opted for small incision surgery with strong titanium plates, My father is doing well now, sutures were removed and the the scar is normal. He is not supposed to put weight on that leg for 4 weeks now. The doctor also prescribed a bone forming injection that has to be given everyday at home, which is just like insulin pen type. overall the surgery and post surgery went smoothly for us thanks to dr kiran reddy he took very good care of all the aspects of health of my elderly father, he is very helpful and informative for the treatment.
Q: Who is an Orthopaedist?
A: An orthopaedist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the skeletal system. An orthopaedic doctor attends to any disorder or condition or injury pertaining to the bones, muscles, joints, and ligaments associated with the skeletal system. These medical professionals treat conditions like arthritis, back pain, sports injuries, and leg and foot pain
Q: What is the difference between an Orthopaedist and an Orthopaedic surgeon?
A: Orthopaedists are sometimes mistakenly referred to as orthopaedic surgeons. An orthopaedist deals with conditions related to the musculoskeletal system. He provides pre-surgical consultation and post-surgical follow up. An orthopaedic surgeon provides same care as orthopaedist, but performs surgery as well. He performs surgery to cure back pain, ruptured discs, bone tumours, carpal tunnel, arthritis and other injuries.
Q: Does an Orthopaedist treat foot and ankle related problems?
A: Yes, an orthopaedist deals with musculoskeletal problems within the body. Problems related to foot and ankle fall under this category. Common foot problems like bunions, ankle sprains, arthritis, and sports injury are treated by an orthopaedist. Diagnosis of foot and ankle related problems are done through imaging tests. The mode of treatment depends on the severity of the problem.
Q: Does one need a doctor referral to see an Orthopaedist?
A: One can consult an orthopaedist by booking an appointment. Consultation with the orthopaedist is conducted in his/her clinic or at a healthcare centre. In some cases, patients go to a general physician for any condition or disorder related to the musculoskeletal system. Once preliminary investigation is done, the general physician may refer the patient to an orthopaedist for further examination.
Q: Does an Orthopaedist treat sport injuries?
A: Sport injuries are mostly related to the musculoskeletal system. Injuries like ligament tear, sprains, fractures, muscle pull, or bruises are commonly encountered in sports. An orthopaedist is the right medical doctor to consult for sport injuries. After physical examination, the orthopaedist may ask for imaging tests for confirming the extent of damage and then treat accordingly.
