Dr. Honavar had his basic medical education at the Bangalore Medical College. He was the Best Graduate of the Bangalore University in 1988 and was awarded seven gold medals. He received post-graduate training in Ophthalmology, followed by senior residency at the Dr. RP Center for Ophthalmic Sciences, AIIMS, New Delhi. During his residency training at the AIIMS, he was adjudged the Best Resident. Dr. Honavar further trained in Ocular Oncology at the Wills Eye Institute, USA. He thereafter established the comprehensive Ocular Oncology Service at the LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad, the first such in the country. He currently heads the Department of Ophthalmic and Facial Plastic Surgery, Orbit and Ocular Oncology at the Centre for Sight, Hyderabad.Dr. Honavar’s current research interests comprise of retinoblastoma, tumors of the ocular surface, and orbit. Dr. Honavar’s overall research contributions that have had very significant impact on the diagnosis and management of retinoblastoma and its outcome. He has extensively published in peer-reviewed journals (over 150 manuscripts) and has written several book chapters.

I had a good experience with Dr. Santosh G Honavar. He explained everything clearly during the consultation. The clinic staff and wait time were also fine. Overall, I am satisfied with the visit.
The waiting time during my visit was a bit long and could be improved. Since my treatment is still ongoing and I am waiting for the scan report, I have not provided a full rating or recommendation yet.
The doctor explained my condition clearly and was attentive during the consultation. The clinic staff were also responsive and treated me well. However, I faced some issues with the prescribed MRI not being suitable for me, which prevented me from proceeding further at this time.

Overall, the experience was disappointing and the communication needs to be improved.

we went for walk in appointment. We were already told that there would be waiting time. so we had been waiting in the room. Two hours passed. But we didnot know when our turn comes and what was our position in the waiting list. when we asked the boy calling patients. he answered simply pls sit we will call. I requested them how many more members are there before our name but they told that they cant tell and pls wait. Really we were blind there without knowing our position there. I did not understand why they don't follow token numbers system and even electronic display of the waiting nos will be more beneficial to the patients
