10 Years, One Failed Surgery, and the ENT Who Finally Got It Right

I first came across Dr. Vishal Pathania several years ago by chance, while commuting between home and office. That association would eventually make a profound difference to my life.

I had previously undergone a septoplasty for a deviated nasal septum under Dr. K.K. Handa at Medanta, Gurgaon. My understanding is the procedure may have been performed by a junior colleague. Following that surgery, I was left with a 7.4 mm perforation in my nasal septum. I repeatedly sought help, but the problem remained unresolved.

For nearly 10 years, I struggled with the consequences. Breathing became increasingly difficult, my left nostril nearly blocked, with turbulent airflow, excessive mucus, and disturbed sleep. At 70, the prolonged difficulty was becoming distressing. Dr. Pathania suggested a CT scan of the PNS, which finally brought the problem into clear perspective.

Dr. Pathania advised another surgery. Understandably, I was apprehensive. ** ******** ******* *** **** ********** *** I had serious reservations. I had also consulted other reputed hospitals and ENT specialists, who suggested surgery including grafting options, but with no certainty of success.

What gave me confidence was Dr. Pathania’s approach: calm, patient, and reassuring. He explained the problem and procedure, answered even my most basic questions, and never made me feel rushed. I decided to trust him and underwent surgery at Artemis Hospital.

The procedure lasted about 2 hours 20 minutes. To my great relief, Dr. Pathania addressed the septal deviation and perforation, along with turbinate reduction. The outcome has been beyond what I hoped for. Today, I can breathe freely. The nasal obstruction and excessive mucus have improved dramatically, and I no longer experience drooling.

Most importantly, I now sleep peacefully through the night, rather than waking every couple of hours. After almost a decade of struggling, this feels like a new lease of life. What impressed me most was not just his surgical expertise, but his patience, humility, and patient centric approach: an unassuming doctor who gives his patients time, listens carefully, and explains without creating anxiety.

We visited Dr. Vishal for our 7 years old son who was having adenoids hypertrophy. He had a major blockage due to which he was having disturbed sleep. He used to keep his mouth open while sleeping and at times snoring was also there. This was taking toll on his physical and mental health. He was not able to eat properly and even after 8-9 hours of sleep he used to wake up tired. Based on his blockage, Dr. Vishal recommended adenoidectomy for him and considering that it was the best course of action in the given circumstances, and we asked him to go ahead with same. The size of adenoids at that time was large - covering 80% of the nasal passage - so the surgery was very much needed.

It's been 2 months since the surgery happened, and we are glad to see our son getting better each passing day. He has started eating well, wakes up fresh in the morning, has more energy and sleeps with mouth closed, without snoring.

I am pleased to mentioned the professional approach by Dr Pathania as we missed the video call at appointed time , however he called himself and the way he explained the problem shows his deep understanding of problem of swelling below my ear related to gland infection .

He spend enough time to advise the drugs and explained the exercise of massaging which has really reduced the problem .

I visited Dr Vishal for my Ear hearing issue. After few tests, Doctor Vishal was able to diagnose root cause and suggested for surgery. I was 100% convinced with the reasoning for surgery so decided to go for it. it was stapedectomy surgery . Surgery was done successfully , without even a single cut/stitch. It was 100% microscopic surgery ( not all doctor can do that, only skilled doctor can do this type of surgery). hearing problem got resolved after surgery.
