SCOD (Surgical Center for Obesity and Diabetes) was started six years ago in 2011 under the mentorship of Dr. Laurent Layani from Weightloss Solutions Australia based in Gold Coast and was known as Weightloss Solutions India.Weightloss Solutions India was a tie up between Weightloss Solutions Australia and Dr. Arush Sabharwal.During the first year of the tie up Dr. Arush Sabharwal felt the term WEIGHTLOSS was not correct as it was misguiding the common public who thought it to be a center for Conservative Management for Obesity and hence had a formal meeting with Dr. Laurent Layani where we had a mutual consensus of renaming Weightloss Solutions India to SCOD (Surgical Center for Obesity and Diabetes).Dr. Arush Sabharwal, belonging to a well renowned family of doctors in Delhi (Capital city of India) and the family runs Nine Hospitals in Delhi. He is the Fifth Generation of doctors in the same family. The Sabharwal Family is the largest family practicing ALLOPATHY Medicine in the world with 140 doctors in the same family.SCOD (Surgical Center for Obesity and Diabetes) then became a part of Dr. Arush Sabharwal’s family business (Jeewan Mala Hospital) in 2012.Due to the combined vision of Dr. Shivani Sabharwal (Dr. Arush Sabharwal’s wife and a renowned Gynaecologist) and Dr. Arush Sabharwal was the birth of SLC (Sabharwal Laparoscopy Center) LLP on January 30, 2015 and SCOD (Surgical Center for Obesity and Diabetes) became a part of SLC LLP.After the shift, SCOD started to expand the services in the form of SCOD Clinics and got attachments in various hospitals not only in Delhi but also in neighboring states (Gurugram, Haryana; Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh and Chandigarh).By January 2017, SCOD has 4 clinics in Delhi, 1 in Gurugram, 1 in Saharanpur and 1 in Chandigarh and are associated with 3 hospitals in Delhi, 1 hospital in Gurugram, 1 hospital in Saharanpur and 1 hospital in Chandigarh.SCOD Clinics are state of art clinics and are not only awarded as the best Bariatric and Reconstructive Surgery Clinics in the year 2015 & 2016 but also gained International Recognition after being Awarded by His Holiness Shri Dalai Lama for our contribution to health care.
