Hi. Firstly, we need to understand why your teeth are yellow. There either could be stains within the teeth which are known as intrinsic stains caused by various reasons or there could be extrinsic stains due to food habits like tea, coffee or tobacco products. Scaling followed by tooth bleaching could provide you with the best results. There are two types of tooth whitening- A) At home: The dentist provides you with the necessary trays along with the bleaching agent at home which can be done by the patient itself. The biggest disadvantage of this is the patient cannot monitor the time or the amount of bleaching agent. Hence this leads to a lot of issues like sensitivity or trauma to the soft tissues B) In office : I would recommend all my patients to go for this technique as the dentist can control all the necessary parameters.

If the natural shade of your teeth is yellow, they will appear yellow only. Its just like skin shades there are teeth shades. If teeth are yellow due to stains, plaque, calculus then it can be cleaned by dentist with ultrasonic scaling. Its completely safe and recommended every 6 months. Bleaching at dental clinic can also be done to whiten teeth but it causes sensitivity in few cases. This is also temporary. Won't last very long. Repeatitive bleaching is not recommended. Kindly go through the blog mentioned in the link below. It will help you.

Please do not try any home remedies. It spoils teeth. If u use any abrasive or acid.. it makes teeth rough so more stains will adhere and teeth will look more discolored. Also it will lead to sensitivity.
