I asked them for thyroid collar but they ddnt had available there... I am worried about frequent exposure of radiation for such a small kid...and thinking about thyroid gland exposed to radiation... I understand your concern, but please be reassured — two dental X-rays within a week are safe, even for a 3-year-old. Dental X-rays use a very low radiation dose. A digital X-ray has extremely minimal radiation, and even traditional (D/E-speed) dental X-rays expose the child to radiation comparable to just a few hours of natural background exposure we all receive daily. There is no evidence that this level of exposure causes thyroid or long-term health problems, even without a thyroid collar. The X-rays were taken only because they were clinically necessary to assess the extent of decay and plan proper treatment. At this stage, the risk of untreated dental infection is far greater than the risk from these X-rays. You do not need to worry about long-term harm from this exposure.

Don't worry about radiation frequency mam , it doesn't harm the child , if doctor advised pulpectomy , xray is must , so don't take tension on xray , as it give only minimal radiation , also get the pulpectomy done as soon as possible

No issues with  doing two x rays.Digital x rays have much smaller radiation dose.so no need to worry. But they should have provided you with thyroid collar and lead apron.

Pulpectomy is necessary if the decay of the tooth is gone beyond the level of restoration and pulpectomy is to be done to save that and other adjacent teeth... And you can show the digital x-ray to your doctor if the xray is taken recently
Next Steps
show the digital x-ray to the doctor which you go for a second opinion

Hello, I understand your concern, but please be reassured. Dental X-rays involve very low radiation exposure, even in young children. A digital dental X-ray has extremely minimal radiation, and even a traditional D/E-speed film X-ray gives a dose far below harmful levels. Having two dental X-rays within a week does not pose any significant risk, including to the thyroid. Regarding treatment, pulpectomy is a very common and routine procedure in pediatric dentistry. It is safely performed even in very young children, including 2–3-year-olds, when teeth are badly decayed. The procedure helps relieve pain, eliminate infection, and preserve the milk tooth until it naturally falls, which is important for speech, chewing, and proper eruption of permanent teeth. When done by a trained pedodontist, pulpectomy is safe and does not cause long-term harm. At this stage, there is no need to panic, the focus should be on timely treatment to prevent further infection or complications.

Hello Dental treatments in children start from two years of age. Pulpectomy procedure is a routine procedure. If ignored can continue damaging the teeth and other teeth as well. You can get the pulpectomy procedure done. You can ask the dentist for the copy of the xray and show it to the other dentist if you need second opinion. But if caries are deep inside then it is necessary to do pulpectomy Thankyou
