X-RAY or MRI for thumb?
I've hurt my hand/thumb in a fall. Had bruising after a day or so but no pain for a few weeks. Thumb began 'clicking' at the knuckle when it bent. Started becoming a bit sore and the pain is steadily increasing and I obviously need to see a doctor. The problem is I have no insurance and very little funds available. I'm trying to avoid getting an expensive x-ray only to be told I need an MRI or some other procedure. I don't think there are any broken bones so would an x-ray even be helpful?

No need for MRI...just go ahead with X-ray. Diagnosis possible with only x-ray and clinical examination.
Next Steps
share x-rays..
