Doctor told me to do XRAY of teeth. I have temporary filling done in my lower wisdom tooth. Dr advised for either root canal or extraction.
i am ready for extraction because i am ACCA student and cant go for root canal treatment at all.
but when i am saying to the dr. that my lower wisdom tooth is feeling the pain why she is not ready to extract it without an XRAY?
why is XRAY so important although i know which tooth is causing pain.
done with my antibiotics course too. suggest something
thanks

Xray is required prior extraction of wisdom tooth . As it's not a normally placed tooth in mouth. To know it's proper position and adjoining nerves and other tissues. So that a dental surgeon can extract the tooth in best possible way

Dear anatomy of roots of wisdom tooth is very complicated and roots may fracture while removing tooth plus in lower wisdom teeth there is a very delicate structure or part of the living tissue called inferior alveolar nerve and vessels are present which may paralyse ur lower jaw permanently so better to take x-ray while removing the wisdom or any tooth.
Better to go for extraction of wisdom tooth to maintain oral hygiene now and in future. X-ray(RADIOGRAPH) is very very important for doctor to know position of tooth in jaw bone and related important vital structure near it ,to save it from damage during your tooth removal. We plan surgery technique based on placement, anatomy and depth of tooth in jaw bone so kindly coperate and trust your doctor for this.
Most of the times wisdom teeth dnt erupt in normal position... either there roots r so broad or they r tilted horizontally or vertically beneath d bone... many a times the tooth is partially erupted and partially covered by bone.... unlike other molars.... so for all these reasons v need to take an X-ray to make the extraction viable....
