Talk to experienced psychiatrist online and get your health questions answered in just 5 minutes.
Hello.
I understand that you want to stop medication but it's advisable to not stop any medication without consulting the said doctor.
Furthermore, to enhance the effects of the medication and to slowly put them off you may seek help from a psychologist/psychotherapist. A Hypnotherapist and/or NLP Practitioner will help you work on the problems at hand from the root cause so that you can slowly start lowering the dose of medication.
Hope you find the help you need
Dear client
You might be describing your response to what you expect a medicine to do.You take the medicine with a faith that you will immediately feel better or get good sleep. Your anxiety goes down. It gives instant improvement. Likewise the thought that you are not protected by a medicine gives anxiety. Drugs in the category of escitalopram take 4 to 6 weeks to achieve maximum improvement.
Next Steps
Follow up with your psychiatrist regularly and take medicine as per dose and duration.
Firstly
Never self medicate or stop medication on your own
Secondly extensive psychotherapy is required along with medication
Slight amount of dependency on meds is also possible
