Immunoglobulin is given once after the bite , preferably within 48 hours .Follow the dosage as per your body weight,as mentioned by a physician here in the forum.
Hello,
Thank you for your query.
Yes, Abhayrab is a commonly used WHO-prequalified rabies vaccine (purified vero cell rabies vaccine), and even though it is considered generic, it is safe and effective. There is no need to repeat the dose with a brand-name vaccine like Rabipur. Continue the same vaccine schedule (Day 0, 3, 7, 14, 28).
Regarding rabies immunoglobulin (RIG):
It should be given only once, ideally within 24–48 hours of exposure along with the first dose of the vaccine.
Dosage is 20 IU/kg for HRIG (human) or 40 IU/kg for ERIG (equine).
For your weight of 66 kg, that would be approximately:
1320 IU of HRIG (e.g., 6.6 mL if 200 IU/mL)
2640 IU of ERIG (e.g., 6.6 mL if 400 IU/mL)
As much of the immunoglobulin as possible should be infiltrated around the wound, and the rest can be given intramuscularly at a distant site.
📍 Please complete your full vaccination schedule even if the wound seems minor.

He is a strong proponent of the generic medicines and you are challenging his advice.
