Wisdom tooth extraction
One of my wisdom tooth is decayed and upon consultation with dentist, she suggested to go for extraction procedure. Well this is normal but on second opinion from other dentist she suggested to remove upper wisdom tooth also. The reason she suggested so because after removal of lower tooth it might be touching lower portion of gum which might eventually cause problem(Technically speaking occlusion issue I guess) I am not sure what to do now. Both are pretty experienced docs of 18 to 20 yrs. One doc didn't say anything on this and another told to remove both. NEED HELP...!!!

Hello sir, both the opinions are correct, it's always better to extract the upper wisdom, after you extracted your lower wisdom tooth, because in future this upper wisdom will give trouble... Prevention is better than cure...

You will eventually have to remove the upper tooth also as it will shift its position after a while and cause problems. You may choose to do it now or later. Advantage of doing it now is you do not have to take antibiotics and painkillers again

Wisdom teeth does not help in chewing foods ,it only causes problems such as pain and swelling of jaw,you can go for extraction of your lower wisdom tooth first and then after healing you can proceed for upper wisdom tooth extraction . So first go for extraction of lower wisdom tooth.

The opinion on extraction of both upper and lower is better keeping in mind the long term outcome.

As a matter of fact one third molar alone if extracted the other will try to overgrow and impinge on the gums that’s correct. Very uncommonly Root Canal Treatment is attempted. At our centre in Chennai would like to share that extraction of the tooth is very negligible and we try saving the tooth by RCT. Why RCT is uncommon because of technical difficulties and access. We overcome that also for the benefit of our patients.
