Why hydronephrosis cases increasing
Why hydronephrosis cases increasing in india , and why so many pediatric doctors don't have awareness about hydronephrosis, some doctors told that is ain't a big issue , and gynecologists don't even have minimum knowledge about this . And why pyeloplasty surgery is controversial in children, and what is right age for doing pyeloplasty. Even pediatric nephrologist say it will resolve it self but when it not resolve it self ,then what will happen, ped nephrologist told that pyeloplasty surgery will recover renal function only in infants, then what about that children whose hydronephrosis is mild until 1 year ,then increases after 2 years , then that children's renal function is not recoverble , so why don't doctors do pyeloplasty in mild hydronephrosis in infants. Why we have to wait until it gets worse . same things happen with me also , so only I'm asking. now doctors blame us only for decreased renal function in my son .

Hydronephrosis in newborn are due to many reasons. Some need surgical procedures like pyeloplasty etc. while others resolve on their own without any intervention. So in mild cases, we generally advise to wait to avoid unnecessary surgery. Only severe cases of hydronephrosis need surgery and only severe cases worsen the kidney function, not mild ones. U will definitely need follow up even after 1 year with a Nephrologist.
