Hello dear don't worry I will surely help you out with diet recommendations for your mother. Thyroid hormones have a lot of functions in our body & imbalance majorly affects your body's metabolism. In your mother's case the swelling or the excess water retention in body is due to thyroid hormone imbalance & to clear it off we need to plan a "specific thyroid" diet plan.
Next Steps
Here are a few things you can start off- 1. Get her thyroid profile checked along with CBC, blood sugars, lipid profile & kidney profile; this will help us understand her metabolism in a better way. 2. Check her height & weight. 3. Start off a healthy well-balanced diet 3. Include plenty of fruits, vegetables. 4. Reduce salt intake 5. Have good water & liquid intake 6. Include some basic exercises like walking on a regular basis. 7. Include "diuretics" which help flush excess water through the body. Do drop me a message on https://www.facebook.com/maithiliobesityclinic/?ref=bookmarks; for a customized diet plan.

Following a healthy diet which has optimal amounts of first class proteins(dairy, eggs, chicken etc), reduced carbohydrates(white rice ,poha etc) & healthy fats(walnuts, almonds etc) along with a structured exercise program that is balanced with weight training and cardio will surely help. Thyroid imbalance will slow down the rate of fat loss, be consistent and patient.Kindly contact for customized diet & workout plan .

Hello, please get your mom's other blood parameters also checked to rule out the possible onset of other condition like hypertension, diabetes, etc. After this is done, make sure that the food she eats in the whole day is distributed into small meals. She should eat a higher portion of complex carbohydrates which includes whole cereals and pulses, etc, include fiber in the diet coming through raw vegetables and whole fruits. The diet should be high in 1st class protein sourced from low fat animal products. The diet should not include simple carbohydrates, processed foods, like sugar, sweets, maida and its products, etc. It should also be low on the visible fats like oil, ghee, butter, etc. Along with this, at least 1hr of exercise or other physical activities, should be included in the day's schedule.
