When can my father have cataract surgery
Today my father had a mastoidectomy + tympanoplasty due to otomastoiditis. Now he wants to have a cataract surgery as one of his eyes have less than 30% (as mentioned by the doctor) vision left. When can he have his cataract surgery at the earliest? Is it possible within 1 or 2 weeks?

If it is possible to wait, pl wait.The tympanic membrane,has to heal.if infection is there, pl postpone cataract surgery. Pl consult Ent specialist and ophthalmologist for better evaluation and treatment.

This decision should be left to the ENT specialist who operated your father. He will be the best judge to advise you when the cataract surgery can be done safely. This will also depend on whether the same side eye is to be operated or the other side.
For an ophthalmologist, a clearance from ENT specialist is advisable. Patient should be infection free.
Ordinarily 3 wks time should be safe.

In cataract surgery, water may go to ears during surgery.
So after proper recovery of tympanoplasty, we can proceed for cataract surgery
You may wait atleast 1 month
