I am a 29 year old female who has always faced iron deficiency since a teenager. These days, I am prone to more and more bruising and even a small contact with something with a little force makes the area dark and violetish. I don’t know what this is. I hope I haven’t developed a new deficiency as such. If you think I have, could you please tell me more about it so that I can seek medical advice? Thanks!

The symptoms of low platelet count(thrombocytopenia) are:
- Easy or excessive bruising (purpura)
- Superficial bleeding into the skin that appears as a rash of pinpoint-sized reddish-purple spots (petechiae), usually on the lower legs
- Prolonged bleeding from cuts
- Bleeding from your gums or nose
- Blood in urine or stools
- Unusually heavy menstrual flows
- Fatigue
- Enlarged spleen
- Jaundice
I would advise you to meet a MD general medicine so that you can be evaluated and undergo investigations such as CBC to find the underlying cause and have it treated accordingly.
