My father's age is 65. As a routine check-up,
we've done a CBC, and his platelet count is 85,000/μL.
Remaining reports are normal. He's not showing any symptoms currently.
What should we do? Is this a cause for concern?
Please find an attached report for your reference.

Hello this is Dr Ishu Parashar.
Probably due to viral infection, like dengue.
If no fever or viral symptoms present then we mat think of nutritional deficiencies.
Might resolve on it's own
Health Tips
Look actively for bleeding, in eye or below skin
repeat CBC
Low platelets can be temporary due to viral infection, lack of vit. B12 or folate some antibiotic, anti inflammatory drugs.
Get another test done after 3 days. Consult a physician physically for better clinical evaluation.
You can consult me directly on Practo, or reach out via WhatsApp:

Use lamon, mausambi kiwi gooseberry too use to raise platelets.
Tab platyza two times a day after food for five days.
Use of papaya leaf juice 10 ml three times a day with honey if he is non diabetic.
Before coming to the cause, I need a little more detail. If it's associated with fever then it's highly possible that it's a viral infection like dengue. But if fever is not there and there is no other sign of infection then we might have to think about some blood disorders like ITP or it could be an early sign of liver failure as the liver is the main source of hormone thrombopoetin which helps in the generation of platelets.
Next Steps
FIRST REPEAT CBC after few days. if it still shows low platelet then Get USG abdomen done (to see the size of Liver and spleen), get SGPT and serum billirubin done to see whether there is any liver damage or not. if everything is normal then we can do bone marrow biopsy to check for underlying blood disorder like ITP.
Need more details history so if you would like to know more details about this problem, you can reach me on procto or for a free detailed consultation on WhatsApp at nine one one nine two five five six nine nine
At this age fluctuations in reports is normal and 85k is not so much less
Since he doesn’t have any symptoms
What can be done is
Wait for 3 days and get a cbc done again if platelet are reduced further need to consult a physician
Or else again after a week cbc can be done to see changes
If he starts to develop any symptoms like rash fever bleeding body pain make sure to immediately take him to hospital
