Hello, As per the details of your height & weight your BMI is 18.7 kg/m2. BMI (18.5-22.9 for Asians) is an indicator of your health, which depends on your height and weight. Weight gain is a gradual process and it needs a lot of personalized dietary approaches. Drastic changes will only give short term results. Improving your overall food intake with regular physical activity mainly weight bearing exercises will help you in gaining weight. It is also important that the weight gained is due to increase in lean muscle mass and not fat gain. Patience and compliance are two things that are needed in this journey of weight gain. A personalized diet session is strongly recommended as it takes into account your routine, lifestyle, food habits, medical conditions if any, medications etc. Following are the guidelines that will be of help- 1. Do not skip meals 2. Have balanced meals throughout the day 3. Ensure protein is part of every meal that you take. Protein rich foods are milk, curd, dals, sprouts, pulses, egg, chicken, fish etc 4. Incorporate foods that contain healthy fats and are calorically dense in your diet such as almonds, walnuts, peanuts etc. 5. Have a glass of milk during bedtime 6. Exercise for 45 minutes 6 days a week. Focus mainly on weight bearing exercises. 7. Never workout or exercise on an empty stomach. Have a fruit, preferably banana before exercise 8. Drink 2-3 liters of water to stay hydrated
