Weight concern
Hello doctors I have a question.. I'm 5 months 1 week pregnant.. FTM.. What I want to know is since conception till today I have gained only 3 kg.right now I'm 56 kg. 1. Is it normal to not gain a lot of weight but still baby is healthy? 2. By what Month do you actually start gaining weight does it indicate healthy baby or not? 3. I have normmal appetite but I'm not going crazy eating. I'm mostly eating nutritional things. Let me know your views on weight gain?

Significant Weight gain usually starts from now in your pregnancy. Normally upto 11-13 kg are gained totally in pregnancy.

Your weight at 3 months pregnancy is the same as your weight before you became pregnant. It is only after 3 months that you start gaining weight. So you gaining 3 kg in 5 months pregnancy is quite all right. The baby will gain weight even if you don't gain too much weight . So it doesn't help by gaining too much weight. You should be normal as far as your eating habits are concerned.

Your weight gain will start mostly after 1 St trimester. So don't worry as of now. Eat as per your hunger and eat nutritious food with proper proportion of carbohydrates, fat, proteins. Eat dryfruits too. Have milk and daily products. Average weight gain in pregnancy in 10-15 kg. Most of the weight gain occurs in the 8 th and 9 th month of pregnancy
