breastfeeding is soothing as well as conveys a secure feeling to the baby, dont be too harsh in stopping it. it may hv consequences try the formula of gradually weaning. look at the comfort foods or objects of the baby: like sometime a toy or a clothing or sometimes a food may help u take over. its upto both mother and baby to decide when to wean.
Next Steps
dont be harsh, look for comfort object and gradually wean

You have to keep the child away from you for half a day to help him stop. You can keep him with a relative or friend. Slowly increase the time away please continue breast milk till 2 years a day because it gives immunity to the child.
