Hello sir/ ma'am,
My daughter 3.5 yrs old (12.5 kg) has white patches near her eyes from past 4 months. I have family history of vitiligo also.
Our dermatologist diagnosed it as Vitiligo & has advised Deflacort 6mg syrup and some topical steroids ointments. Said it would be chronic treatment.
Is it safe to give ?

although not good for chronic use ,cont. as advised by dermatologist, or in case of query consult your doctor and go for second opinion at the same time.
Vitiligo is disease which require treatment in which syp delfacort is useful for the resolution of the symptoms and syrup will keep Vitiligo under control in the same time there will be some complication related to medicines,so observation is important now to Monitor the complication/ side effects .
Consult pediatrician regularly for monitoring side effects
It's safe for short durations but long term steroid treatment needs monitoring of some parameters and after completion of treatment course , it can not be stopped abruptly but needs to be tapered gradually under a pediatricians guidance.
U need to visit a pediatrician periodically along wd ur dermatologist
Hii
Oral syrup Deflacort is a steroid should not be used chronically as it has its own side effects like weight gain, increased risk of infections. Not to be used more than 3-5 days unless indicated.
Topical steroids again has few side effects but for vitiligo that can be used now a days other than topical steroids there are other treatments available like tacrolimus etc.. consult skin doctor for the same
Take treatment according ur dermatologist, as its chronic treatment, but long term steroids have some side effects so consult accordingly after treatment
