Vitamin D for new born
My baby is 2 months old and till date ped. Has not recommended any vitamin D syrup. Is it necessary to give vit D? Or only sun exposure is enough? Would it create any deficiency if vitamin D not given

It is National recommendation to give all babies Vitd3 drops. Do not worry if not given so far, you can start now :) If the strength is 800IU in 1ml - then you give 0.5ml once daily for the first year of life. If the strength of your medication is 400IU in 1ml- then give 1ml daily once a day for the first year of life

So studies have found that majority child are deficient of vitamin D3 till 1 year of age, so it's recommended to give 400iu of vitamin D3 daily. Kidrich (800iu) 0.5ml Once a day Till 1 year of age. Still having a query, then can take an opinion.

Yes vit D is very essential for all new borns . You have to give for about 6 months .0.5 ml of vit D3 drops 0.5 ml once every day for upto 6 months . Consult if needed Dr Aishwarya pediatrician
