My child had fever 2 weeks ago. Gave advent and calpol as per doctors advice. Fever came down in 2-3 days but rashes started after 5 days. Got blood work done and platelet count was low and dengue igm was positive ns and iig were negative. Got repeat test, platelet count was within bracket. Doctor said nothing to worry and we were sent home. My child has fever today again. Please advise.

Fever earlier was due to dengue fever as evident from the blood test.I would like to know how the child was in between the two episodes. If child was completely normal after the recovery from dengue fever, today’s fever spike could be just due to a simple viral fever.

In my opinion .. since the child is already a case of Dengue fever.. keeping in contact with the same pediatrician should be maintained.. as to not miss any complications or relapse of fever .. and investigations may need to be repeated
Looks like child had a viral fever before 2 weeks and now having a probable secondary bacterial infection causing fever or any inflammatory response also can be a possibility, kindly mention about fever (how much temp), how many times and how it is relieved and how is activity between fever episodes this gives more idea about what to do next and best for ur kid
