Viral fever and not feeding well and cry

My son has viral fever and we consulted a doctor and he has given medicines for 5 days. My son is not taking feed well and crying a lot sometimes when he gets a fever again in Frequency of 5 hrs. Will it take 2 3 days to recover and being normal routine??
