Use of IME 9 in place of insulin.
Hello Doctor, I am 67 years old & suffering from type 2 diabetes since past 22 years. From February 2017 I am taking Lantos insulin 10 units before breakfast. However my pre lunch and post lunch sugar level continue to remain high. Can you please suggest whether use of IME 9 tablet can be used as a replacement for insulin as I no longer wants to take insulin injections. Please advise. Thanks.

Sorry to hear you sugars are not under control. There is a reason for you not to achieve normal levels yet. Lantus acts between your meals and at night time. sugar levels before your dinner and breakfast is reflective of the action of Lantus and not before and after lunch time. I understand you want to come off insulin but on the contrary u might need to increase your insulin to get your sugar under control, I mean you will need another injection or two before breakfasts or lunch as well. As far as IME 9 is concerned It’s your individual decision as this is not available anywhere else in the world and as a diabetes specialist I myself haven’t got a clue of what it is apart from seeing the TV advert . One thing I just want to convey with this post is that there is no better medication for you apart from insulin . Hope his helps.
