Unable to sleep, Night shift duty
Hi Doctor, I would really appreciate your help in my problem that I’m facing for more than a year now. I am into continues full night shift duty (7PM to 5AM) which I will have to continue due to financial status. However I am unable to sleep at all. I am an over-thinking person and unlike others I also have many problems in life. I have overcome some, I have failed in some; no issues with that. I only have 1 addiction (no smoking, drinking etc.) & it’s Music. So my habit is before going to sleep I listen to songs for an hour in headphones. Oh, I also wash my face before going to sleep. I have been doing this since last 7 years now! (Also wanted know whether washing face before going to sleep removes/reduces your sleep? But as I am working on computer for more than 10 hours a day & smartphones & laptop’s on weekend my eyes feel relax after that) However when I was general/day shift duty earlier I always had a good sleep after doing these as well. Even in weekends when I am awfully tire

Hey Dear Night sleep is the most important part of sleep a human required that is 6-8 hrs to feel relaxed, rejuvenated. But as the situation demands, you are sleeping in the day. You can make a strict schedule for your own self, like switching off from work and try not to do over work(except nights which are Really important). Secondly take breaks in between your work, like you can meet people, talk to them, take breaks from screen. Eat healthy food, include exercise in your schedule. (Washing your face before sleep is bot a problem). Listening to music is not a problem, but try not to watch anything before you sleep, more screen time disturb eyes and sleep.
Next Steps
meet a psychiatrist for medication if you are not benefited, psychologist for discussing your concerns face to face and treatment plan.
