Hello,
Itâs understandable to feel confused and concerned when thereâs a mismatch between your experience and what you read online. Let me clarify a few things for you.
Tension-type headaches are very common in individuals dealing with anxiety or chronic stress. The pain can be intense and persistent, even if itâs not classified as a migraine. Sometimes, medications like Riaznet (a combination of flunarizine and propranolol) or Betacap TR (propranolol) are prescribed off-label to manage chronic headaches and anxiety symptomsâeven if they are primarily used for migraines.
These medications work by calming the nervous system, reducing the physical symptoms of anxiety (like muscle tension and vascular constriction), which can significantly help with tension-type headaches.
However, if you're still unsure or uncomfortable, I would recommend:
Discussing your doubts directly with your doctorâopen communication is essential.
Seeing a psychologist alongside medical treatment to address the root causes of anxiety. Therapy can reduce both the emotional and physical symptoms over time, possibly reducing your need for long-term medication.
You're not alone in thisâsupport is available for both mind and body.
