While it's important to be careful about trusting unknown people but it is equally important to place some trust in unknown and known people in order to live and function effectively in society. If someone has broken your trust in the past, then try to understand what led to it and did you place blind trust without judging if that person was worthy of it. Having high expectations also leads to broken trust.

It's not fair to measure everyone with the same yardstick.. Everyone is not the same. There are many trustworthy people out there who can be believed. Give yourself and them a chance.
