Trisomy 21 is above the cut off
She is pregnant from Last 3 month 14 day month. We went for several test including ultrasound, hemoglobin and some others. We went for MATERAL SERUM SCREEN 2; DUAL TEST in that report we are seeing- The calculated risk for trisomy 21 is above the cut off which represents an increased risk. Wanted to know is it something we need to be worried ? If yes then what would be next step ? Please assist here.. I have attached report please help us .

Hi, this test is a screening test for Down syndrome. A chromosomal disorder association with Down syndrome. But screening test positive can be false positive too. You need to get a confirmatory test before reaching any final decision. A blood test called NIPT is 95 -99 % confirmatory and another test called amniocentesis ( in which water around baby is tested) is more confirmatory. You should visit some fetal medicine expert before deciding on to which test to undergo and then take decision accordingly.

Hi Ur down syndrome screening is positive. Do further confirmatory tests are required n also detailed history is needed.
