I'm suffering from schizophrenia and taking trifluoperazine since 2021 is it safe to take this long.

Schizophrenia is a chronic illness and meds are to be continued from 2 years to lifetime, depending on the multiple factors. Trifluperazine is a first generation anti psychotic that is relatively safe for long term management, however if side effects like - tremors, gait disturbance, abnormal involuntary movements develop; kindly contact your psychiatrist urgently

Plan to stop treatment in case schizophrenia should be made after careful evaluation of history , patient profile and expectations . In cases of schizophrenia treatment is generally long term only
