It can be addressed through both medications and psychotherapy. But first  thing you need, is to be assesed by a psychology expert to confirm the type of emotional disturbance you are going through. Simple answer to this is that if some one in your family has schizophrenia you are likely to genetically have the disease. The other reason is chemical imbalances. The onset of the disease will be in early to late teens. The signs start showing so if you have not shown signs till now you may be in the clear but a full evaluation is advised.
