Toothpaste
I've seen that some people who have genetically good teeth, use normal toothpastes like the cheapest version of colgate and have no dental problems ever. I have also been brushing really nicely all my life, but still had got tartar(which had to be professionally cleaned) especially at the back surface of my lower incisors(perhaps coz they are closest to salivary gland?) Please recommend a toothpaste for protection from plaque/tartar(I don't want tartar again). Also, should I add flossing to my dental hygiene routine. Please suggest a detailed dental hygiene routine with toothpaste, mouthwashes, floss, etc. P.S. I have searched up google and only got confused about what to do, what not to do.

Toothpaste: Look for toothpaste that is specifically formulated to help prevent plaque and tartar buildup. Many toothpaste brands offer variants with anti-plaque or tartar control properties. Some common ingredients to look for include fluoride, triclosan, and pyrophosphates, as these can help combat plaque formation. Examples of toothpaste brands that offer such variants include Colgate Total, Crest Pro-Health, and Sensodyne Pronamel. Mouthwash: Using a mouthwash can be a helpful addition to your dental hygiene routine. Look for an antiseptic mouthwash that is effective against plaque and gingivitis. Look for active ingredients such as chlorhexidine, cetylpyridinium chloride, or essential oils like thymol, menthol, or eucalyptol. These can help reduce bacterial growth and promote gum health. Some popular mouthwash brands include Listerine, Crest Pro-Health, and Colgate Total. Flossing: Flossing is an essential part of oral hygiene, as it helps remove plaque and debris from areas that a toothbrush may not reach effectively. Use dental floss or interdental brushes to clean between your teeth once a day. Gently slide the floss between each tooth and along the gumline, making sure to clean both sides of each tooth. Dental hygiene routine: Brush your teeth at least twice a day, preferably after meals, using a toothpaste with anti-plaque or tartar control properties. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and gentle, circular motions to clean all tooth surfaces. Spend at least two minutes brushing your teeth each time. After brushing, rinse your mouth with water. Use dental floss or interdental brushes to clean between your teeth once a day. Consider using a mouthwash with anti-plaque or antiseptic properties. Rinse your mouth for the recommended duration mentioned on the product label. Visit your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and check-ups. They can monitor your oral health and provide specific recommendations based on your needs. Remember, maintaining good oral hygiene also involves a healthy diet, limiting sugary and acidic foods and beverages, and avoiding tobacco products. Regular dental check-ups are essential to address any specific concerns and receive professional guidance.

Twice a day tooth brushing with a soft brush and a fluoride paste using correct technique. Brushing to be done preferably after breakfast and before retiring at night. Inter -dental flossing every night. You can use the user friendly disposable dental floss cum tooth picks available nowadays. Drink adequate water and eat healthy meals. Rinse after having anything. Regarding the need for professional cleaning, everyone should get it done every six months. (Some with oral problems may need after every three months.)In this period the buildup of bacteria under the gums are capable of producing disease. Also, a thorough examination of teeth ensures that problems are diagnosed and treated early and do not require complicated treatment. In six months, the tartar may not form but caffeine, and some other foods lead to stains. In men, even smoking leads to dental stains , This causes bad breath too and buildup of bacteria under the gums. So, it is prudent to get regular checkups and periodic cleaning done. The tartar collects more on the lingual surfaces of lower incisors and outer surfaces of upper molars due to the presence of openings of the ducts of salivary glands here.. There is a near constant generous supply of ions within saliva that bathe the teeth. The presence of a relatively alkaline ph due to proteolytic bacteria in the mature plaque on the surfaces of teeth and the supersaturated saliva causes the deposition of tartar over the plaque. So, the composition of saliva also affects whether one is a heavy tartar former or not.

Hi Brushing is important to remove food particles and plaque from the teeth.More then the type of tooth paste thats being used, its the technique of brushing that matters the most.Pls csee your dentist for the proper brushing technique. Also brush twice a day for atleast 2 mins effectively. You can also use electrical tooth brush. In addition to brushing floss on a daily basis.flossing helps to remove particles between the teeth.if using flosser is difficult you can use water flossers that are available in the market.Rinse with antimicrobial mouth wash, swish for 30 secs and spit it.you can do this at night time before going to bed.see your dentist every 6 months for routine check up. I hope this helps.
