For removing a crown it's always better to cut it with a bur and then remove it though it's a time consuming process but safe also as it prevents damage to the underlying tooth, whereas when you use a crown remover a jerk is applied due to which the tooth can break.

hello, we use the combination of both the methods. we cut the crown, use the crown remover and use the wedging principle. This is most atraumatic to the patient and the tooth. the crown gets removed within minutes. Book an appointment on practo with Prudent international health clinic, pune for Dr. Puja Bansal.

Hello. Cutting a tooth crown/cap with carbide bur is always better and safe procedure as damage of underlying tooth is almost zero. On the other hand traditional method of using crown removal for jerk is ok but chances of tooth breakage is higher specially in root canal treated (RCT) tooth or moderate to severe decayed tooth and sometime after tooth facture because of jerk, may end up in tooth removal. Jerk may give mild to moderate pain sensation as well depwnding upon underlying toorh condition. Being a Prosthodontist, i must say always better to go for crown removal by cutting with bur if possible. It takes 5-30min depending upon the position and quality of crown.
Next Steps
Go signal for crown removal with its cutting by a carbide bur. safe and painless.

Crown removal is done with a instrument which gives a jerk and crown is removed without damage of underlying tooth. At tyms crown is slit open to make it easier to remove crown with no damage to underlying tooth .either ways tooth wont n shouldn't be destroyed while removing .
