Tonsillitis, throat problem and fever
My father was suffering from tonsillitis, associated pain and fever in the last few days. He has taken azithromycin 500 mg once a day for 5 days. He is recovering. But, is this dose for 5 days harmful or will cause any side effects ? Also, please tell if he should have taken any gas medicine with azithryomycin?

No the course depends upon the symptoms sometime it's given only thrice sometimes or for five days .
Yes acidity can occur with any antibiotic so that's why the doctors prescribe antacid but if u do not get it then it's okay not to take it.

Azithromycin is generally a safe antibiotic which could be used for 3-5 days.It is not necessary that it should be taken along with gastric medicines.Some people who have gastric issues are given PPI to reduce its side effects.

Taking Azithromycin for 3-5 days is fine..all drugs come with side effects...it depends on their body type..he already finished 5 days of antibiotics,no need to think abt antacid now..
