Thyroid test timing
What is the best time for a thyroid test ? I took a thyroid test at 5pm and the result is quite high.i am already taking Thyronorm 88.7mcg tablets and about to plan a for first baby . But I doubt the test results so I wanted to take the re-test before I showed myself to the doctor. So please suggest the right time to take a test? ( t3,t4 and tsh tests)

Ideal is morning ,fasting.however,it depends in the lab.some reputed labs,do not require fasting as they have newete methods of analysis.

It is best to have the test early in the morning and you don't have to be fasting unless you are planning to do some other tests which require fasting.your TSH level may be high due to inadequate dose of thyronorm.

The best time to take thyroid function test is on fasting, early morning. Ensure to take FREE T4 , FREE T3 and TSH. Ideally, TSH should be below 2 while planning for pregnancy. In case, it’s higher kindly consult for dosage adjustment.
