A relative of mine is excessively concerned about his health all the time, always thinking if something is wrong with his system, searching for symptoms in Google, and thinks that has happened to him, gets nervous on thinking about it all the time, then visits doctors and when doctors say he is ok, then he is satisfied. What kind of psychological disorder is this? How can it be cured?

Hi
The symptoms of your relative are very close to a psychiatric condition called somatic symptom disorder and illness anxiety disorder .
There are medications which can help him get better.
Please ask him to consult a psychiatrist or you can direct consult me.

Dear Practo user,
It is a very common problem nowadays as lot of information is available online, although not always authentic. This leads to problems like these which are bring experienced by your relative as well.
It could simply be health anxiety, but can also be a feature of some other related psychological problem which needs to be assessed after collecting detailed case history.
Next Steps
Ask your relative to consult a Clinical Psychologist in person for proper assessment of the condition and subsequent psychological intervention.
Hope this helps. Best wishes.
