Tetanus vaccination query
Because of contradictory answers by some most of the times, it is not clear. I was born in 1973 in Mumbai. To be sure I took 3 Tetanus injections each one month apart (0,1,2) as primary series in 2000. Ever since, I surely got 1 Tetanus injection before 5 years, sometimes even within 2 years.
So if I took a Tetanus toxoid on 26th June, 2023 do I need to take another vaccine now since already 6 months past as told by two doctors here Or as many have said it is effective for atleast 5 years, 10 years Max. I don't need it now say if I got a mild cut with iron or abrasion?
Please clear this confusion of 6 months vs 5/10 years if possible.

If any injury occurred within 6 months thn no need to take
And if injury occurs after 6 month or inj thn need to take
Else take every yearly when no injury

If this wound is caused by clean object --- definitely not required
If this wound is caused by rusty / dirty object --- u need TT injection
But if u have received TT within the last 5 years no need to get booster also .. jus clean the wound and apply antiseptic ..

A mild cut with a clean object.
That is clean wound does not need a booster.
If the iron is rusted then you will need to get a vaccine.
If your wound is dirty, that is contaminated with dirt, saliva, rust, faeces, animal or human bites , penetrating or puncture wound.
In your case. It’s an abrasion with a metal and you were vaccinated in June 23. You do not need to get a booster for another 10 years until you get deep dirty wound in this case you will need to get a booster at the time.
As of now, wash under running water and soap .
