Hi, my mother was diagnosed with TB through EBUS and bronchoscopy on 23rd sep 2024. She is taking akurit 4 now 5 tablets as per her weight.
Her cough , phlegm has reduced a lot.
She has tiredness from when she has started the medicine. Feels hungry but doesn't want to eat anything?
Doc has suggested to take akurit 3 after 2 months of akurit 4.
When will the tiredness and loss of appetite go away ?
Thanks

Tb itself is a disease with constitutional symptoms like loss of apetite, wt loss , tired ess. And the anti tb medicines also cause severe weakness which the body will overcome gradually (usually in 3 months). As there is no food restriction, give her whatever food she likes, try giving small amounts frequently. It's always better to give protein rich food.
In TB, generally the constitutional symptoms take a long time to recover. Some patients may not have desire to eat until the treatment is completed. However it is essential to continue the treatment and eat sufficiently. Eat protein rich foods, take adequate vitamins everyday to cope up with healing and to become active again. An egg everyday is advisable or any other plant based protein rich food.
