Pain coming from Coccyx or tailbone is typically very painful and takes a long time to heal and settle down. You need to take regular painkillers including anti-inflammatories like Ibuprofen or Diclofenac (provided you do not have any gastritis). Minimise sitting in one place for a long time. Use a Coccyx cushion or Polo mint cushion which is like a ring, when you sit down. Use it at all times when you sit for a long time. Give this atleast 3-4 months to help the inflammation settle down. Hope this helps. Dr Vinu Raj Consultant Spine Surgeon MBBS MRCS FRCS(Trauma&Orth)
