Yesterday evening my father experienced pain in upper jaw teeth because of cavity.Since today morning , pain has reduced considerably. He applied salt over that affected tooth.Since evening , his cheek is a bit swollen. He says the pain is mild and only if is touched. What could be the reason for swollen cheek?
Do we need to see doctor urgently(tomorrow morning) or can wait??

It seems that you have applied hot compression which has lead to the swollen cheek.
Use ice pack compress instead.

See salt + saliva (salt solution acts to reduce inflamation by Osmosis) so the pain reduced, But there in infection so it came back (swelling of cheek) .
I need to see the image of the affected area to plan a treatment .
- Warm saline gargle 2-3 times a day
- Colgate pain out
- Tab Sporidex 500
1 tab bd x 5 days
Tab Zerodol Sp
1 tab bd x 5 days
Cap Pan D
1 cap bd before meal x 5 days.
- Pain and swelling will go automaticly . Till then upload an image let me see that can be done , you can wait till the lockdown gets over there will be no emergency. So upload an image.
Thanks alot.
Tooth infection is causing the further swelling at adjacent cheek region.
For the time being, do have these medicines prior to visit dentist, for controlling further spread of infection.
T. augmentin duo 625, 2 times/day.after food 10 tablets.
T.metrogyl 400, 2 times/day.after food 10 tablets.
T.ultracet/zerodol PT, maximum 3 tablets a day, if pain, after food
T. Roles D,once a day, before food,for 4 days
T.A to z gold, once a day, after food,10 tablets.
If difficulty in opening mouth or chewing or swallowing, these are usually associated with tooth infection.
If feverish, that can be as a secondary infection from tooth.

Health Tips
do not do hot compression /balm/ointment application extra-orally.
avoid very hot/cold/hard/sweet/sticky food

hold mouthful of Luke warm water in for sometime; you can do it for few times a day, if it's relieving your pain, even partially.
Swelling is because of infection reaching roots of the tooth.
