I need guidance regarding the swelling thighs. I have type 1 diabetes issue since I was 8 years old and taking human mixtard insulin (twice a day) on my thighs. 2 years back I started to take Insugen R instead of Human Mixtard on my abdomen but still the swelling exists. I have consulted a diabetologist regarding this issue but he just recommend me to continue taking insulin on multiple areas and avoid taking insulin on same spots regularly. I want to know more about this issue.
Is it harmful?
What is the reason for this issue?
How can I get rid of it?
Can someone please guide or recommend a good doctor to me for this. I would appreciate if someone help me on this issue. Thank You.

I think you should stop taking insulin injections on your thighs .Try a insulin pump for a few days .Pumps are available on emi too and are best for Type 1 DM .Helps you avoid multiple injections and controls blood sugars.Wrap a gauze soaked in glycerine magsulph around the swollen thighs and leave for a few hours. The swelling would subside.Learn correct techniques of insulin injections from your treating doctor.
