This finger need to be seen by an Orthopaedic Surgeon or seen in Emergency Medicine. You could have just sprained it or you may have a condition called "mallet finger". It is not clear from.your question as to where it is painful and where is the swelling in your finger. Please get it assessed. Hope this helps. Do apply ice two to three times in a day. Don't move your finger a lot. If swelling doesn't settle in a day or two do visit an orthopaedician for further investigation and diagnosis. Kindly revert back with results.
