I had checked my dad fbs sugar level which is around 121 mg/dl. Whether he is diabetic?. What is the normal sugar at the age of 59?

Dont worry he is fine. Briskwalking daily for 30 mins, Repeat the FBS, PPBS and HBa1c after 3 months and review with reports

That indicates he is a pre diabetic. He doesn't need to take anti-diabetic medications if he is not on one but take dietary precautions which includes a low sugar diet avoiding processed sugar as much as possible and also excercise for atleast 30minutes a day. Excercise may include 30min brisk walk. If he is already on anti-diabetic medication kindly do not panic, the dose has to be altered a bit and he'll be able to maintain fasting sugar below 100 again.

FBS more than 126mg/dl is considered as diabetic Between 100 to 125 impaired fasting glucose
