She is diabetic . I would like to know whether this is her first blood test report.
To do
1. Dietary modification ....reduce carbohydrates and high glycemic index foods like oranges, mangoes
2. Brisk walk...daily atleast for half an hour
After 2 weeks
Review with hba1c , fbs , ppbs, liver and renal function test , fasting lipid profile
Check bp
Mostly she may need to be put on oral hypoglycemia agents . Please do the above mentioned tests and review
Brisk walk
Diabetic profile is advisable ie hba 1c is important to know is she diabetic. Values r definitely high towards diabetic.
Hba1c gives u three months average blood sugar levels.
Hello ,
Your mother’s fasting blood sugar (FBS) of 145 mg/dL and post-prandial blood sugar (PPBS) of 249 mg/dL are higher than the typical normal ranges. Generally, an FBS above 126 mg/dL and a PPBS above 200 mg/dL can suggest diabetes, but these results need confirmation through repeat testing or additional evaluations to ensure accuracy.
Why Consultation Matters
While these numbers are concerning, a proper diagnosis requires more than just test results. A detailed consultation will help us understand her medical history, any symptoms like increased thirst or fatigue, and other factors like family history or lifestyle. This approach ensures we tailor the diagnosis to her specific health needs.
Next Steps
I recommend considering an HbA1c test, which measures average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months, to complement these results. Additionally, booking a consultation on Practo will allow us to discuss everything in detail and plan the best course of action for her health. Early management is key to preventing complications, so I encourage taking this step promptly.
