Suffering from High BP
In Oct 2019 had emergency c sec due to high bp (210/90) never had it before,no family history evn. Then all normal after that in a week. Last month randomly chkd and it was 180/95, visited doc he chkd nd it was 168/92, prescribed walk, low salt and velol xl 50 for 20 days, monitored it for 10 days it was in 106-120 range(sys), doc advised to tk 25mg now, monitored after that for 10 days it's 115-140. So my concern here is ; 1. Am I became a high bp patient now ? 2. Should I need to continue with tabs now forever ? 3. What all test I should get done ? If it is cholesterol? 4. My bp will shoot up if I will leave medicine ? 5. Do I hv more risk of corona ? 6. What natural ways can be taken to control it ? Please suggest me I am really worried.

Hello. Yes currently since you have high blood pressure now you are hypertension patient. Hypertension or high blood pressure is a lifestyle disorder that is directly connected to stress as well as your food habits, exercise, daily routine and many other body related factors also. So once it comes it will stay. We can keep it in control but cannot cure it. Now with this background let's answer your questions. 1. Yes. Since your BP was measured desperately at different times and was showing high and also after taking meds it is now under control. 2. Yes you will have to continue medications for blood pressure. The medicine may change and also the dose may change according to your Blood pressure control but it is necessary for you to take the prescribed medicine. 3. Routine blood tests ideally that should be done for you are CBC, lipid panel, creatinine, urine routine and urine ACR. Other tests may be required and can be discussed when you consult online. 4. Yes it will shoot up if you do not take the meds eventually. 5. No. With proper social distancing and handwashing and face mask, etc precautions you can avoid it like any other individual. 6. As discussed earlier it is a lifestyle disorder so a healthy lifestyle including low salt and proper diet, regular exercise and regular BP monitoring and consultation with doctor will help you to keep it under control and prevent yourself from any BP related complications.
