Suffering from depression
My mom has been suffering from depression for the past 3 years. She was okay for a while in the middle and then i think it relapsed again. Shes on anti depressants and taking meds like mirtaz and lamictal. There is a certain person or issue that triggers her and makes her feel very negative. How can i help her? I dont know if the medicines are working or not. But previouslt she had taken these meds and recovered. Maybe when she is around that person or in that situation it becomes worse/ is that possible?

It's good that you have identified the route cause for your mothers stress,  do you really think the fear and anxiety she gets by seeing a person can be cured by medicine? We need to understand the nature of medicine to come to that conclusion,  medicine can calm down her nerves in the brain for a while,  but the thoughts can not be controlled by them.  She needs someone to talk and get out her emotions along with that medicine would help.
Next Steps
counseling is strongly recommended

Could be. Yet, I suggest her to Consult a psychologist, where she can share her feelings and learn methods to handle or overcome those appropriately.
