Suffering from depression
Dear Doctor, My wife is suffering from depression for past 2 month Like repetitive thoughts, confusion, lack of concentration. She was perfectly normal but her father was unwell for sometime. So she was too much worried and after few days We have consulted a psychiatrist and as per his advise she is under seroquel medication. Ativan was also suggested whenever she has difficulty in sleeping. She was perfectly normal for about last 10 days. I was so happy that she has recovered. But again she has gone back to previous condition associated with headache. I have consulted two psychiatrists now. Both saying she has to be under seroquel medication for 6 months. Because of this we are unable to lead normal life. Is there any alternative way ? Do I have to consult a neurologist ? I'm in desperate need of help.

Are you sure it is depression and not OCD or something else  ? Is there any ongoing or recurrent stressor in your wife's life ? Unlike fever and cold, psychiatric medication has to be taken for long duration ( just like diabetes and hypertension medicines )
Next Steps
please continue her treatment with the psychiatrist

Each medication would have some side effects to some extent. I would suggest you to make her talk and vent out her feelings and emotions with a counselor. This should help her in big way. I have handled many such cases in India and abroad through online counseling. Do get in touch with me for further discussion and appointment. Visit my Facebook page Preeti Kashikar and the website mentioned on it to know my work. She will be fine soon. Don’t worry. Happy to help !

Hi Sir Thanks for seeking help here. After carefully reviewing your history I felt what the issues you mentioned here is not the full picture. Seroquel is not a treatment of choice for unipolar depression. If doctor has suggested her for 6 months instead of ativan then definitely it's for sleep. Sleep is a issue in anxiey and depression. The root cause of her illness should be addressed. She may have adjustment disorder because she is worried a lot for his father's health issues. To be honest sir adjust disorder can be easily managed without medication. If she needs any Medication then it will highly temporary n for a brief period.
Next Steps
Let's have detail discussion about all these issues and finalize the management.
Health Tips
Do Regular Yoga and Regular Exercise like walking. Both can treat adjustment issues n depression. happy to help you.
