There is a simple breathing technique that works to calm anxiety by signaling the brain that you are safe. It mimics the breathing pattern of deeply relaxed people who are not in any danger:
Step 1âBreath in to the count of 4
Step 2âHold your breath for the count of 4
Step 3âSlowly breath out to the count of 6â8.
Repeat 10 times
The basic idea is that the outbreath should ideally be longer than your in breath.
You can, however, modify this breathing pattern to suit your capacity. For example if Step 2 Holding for the count of 4 is too difficult, hold for 2 and work slowly up to holding for 4 over time. If it feels too hard to breathe out to the count of 6â8, do it for a minimum of 4.

Hi,
It is very much expected and normal for anyone to feel fearful or anxious after facing a health crisis, especially something like covid, that has been threatening our life in many ways. The Good news is that both of you survived and recovered successfully from covid. However, following any sort of viral infection, including covid, a person tends to become physically and mentally weak ( it might mean being continuosly anxious, depressed, fearful, sleeplessness, and disruption of daily activities). These symptoms will slowly improve as time passes by and as you both recover. Try to keep busy in other activities, interact more with all family members and finally Trust God more than anything else.
In case the symptoms are very bothering and impairing your functional life, kindly consult a psychiatrist nearby for a thorough assesment and timely help.
