Dear Patient, Thank you for sharing your stool test results. Let’s break down the important points: Pus Cells in Stool: 5-7 pus cells per high-power field (hpf) can indicate mild inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract. While this can be due to infection, it can also be seen in people with IBS or food intolerances, such as your lactose intolerance. Could the Pus Cells Be from the Kadhi? If the kadhi contained dairy and you are lactose intolerant, this could have caused irritation in your gut and triggered mild inflammation, potentially explaining the presence of pus cells.
Next Steps
Monitor symptoms: If you experience ongoing indigestion, diarrhea, or abdominal pain, consult your doctor to rule out infection or other causes. Dietary adjustments: Avoid foods containing lactose to see if symptoms improve. If symptoms persist or worsen, your doctor may suggest further testing to check for bacterial or parasitic infections. In summary, the pus cells might be a result of inflammation from your lactose intolerance rather than an infection, but it's important to monitor symptoms. Please consult your doctor for personalized advice. Let me know if you need further assistance!

The presence of 5-7 pus cells per high-power field in your stool sample suggests inflammation, which could indeed be due to an infection. Although consuming kadhi (which can be acidic and spicy) the night before your test could irritate your digestive system, especially since you have IBS and are lactose intolerant, it's less likely to cause an acute increase in pus cells. It's important to consider other symptoms you might be experiencing and any additional medical history. For a more thorough evaluation and appropriate treatment, please consider scheduling a consultation with me.
